Man Arrested in Jackson Street Home Invasion Case Is Out of Prison

Alex Molon, 19, of Harwinton is facing home invasion and robbery charges after police arrested him Sunday in connection to the Dec. 18 Avon residential armed robbery.

One of the Harwinton men who police say robbed a Jackson Street home at gunpoint in December posted the $100,000 bond required to keep him out of prison as his case continues.

Hartford Superior Court Judge Julia Dewey reduced the police-set bond of $500,000 for Alex Molon, 19, when he appeared in court on March 18, the day after his arrest. He was released after posting the bond on the condition that he wear an IPS monitoring device to track his whereabouts.

His suspected accomplice, Michael Cyr, 21, of Harwinton, is still locked up on a $750,000 bond.

Molon is prohibited from contacting the victims — a mother, her adult daughter and a guest who was in their house during the Dec. 18 home invasion — or Cyr, his co-defendant.

Cyr was the first arrested in the case back in January. The two men are friends and knew each other through middle and high school in Region 10, according to the arrest warrant. Molon knew the Jackson Street residents, police said, and came up with the plan to target their home.

The victims told police that one of the suspects unlocked the kitchen door by reaching through a broken window and that two masked men entered yelling, "Where's the drugs?"

"It is apparent that the suspects had some prior knowledge of the broken window pane and the presence of drugs in the residence," police stated in the arrest warrant.

Cyr and Molon, each carrying a handgun, demanded that the occupants get down on the ground, police said. Police found both guns matching the victims' description of the weapons in Cyr's home. At least one of the guns was registered to Cyr, according to the arrest warrant for Molon.

The two men made off with purses, cash, and one of the victims' prescribed bottle of Xanex pills and ounce of marijuana, according to Molon's arrest warrant.

Molon is charged with home invasion, first-degree robbery, fourth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit home invasion, first-degree robbery with the threat of a firearm and fourth-degree larceny.

Cyr is facing the same charges except the larceny charges, which the court eliminated, according to the judicial website.
