Police have canceled the Silver Alert for a beloved Avon elementary school librarian who family members reported missing Tuesday.
Avon resident Susan McCabe called her family Wednesday at 8 a.m. and told them where she was located after seeing the Silver Alert on the television news, Avon police Lt. Kelly Walsh said.
She had left her home for personal reasons, though police have not released further information. There was no foul play involved, police confirmed.
Police had issued a Silver Alert for her Tuesday night at 8 p.m.
McCabe is the library media specialist at Pine Grove School, according to the school website. She has been on a leave of absence from Avon Public Schools since Feburary and its unclear for how long she'll be taking time off from work, according to materials provided to the Board of Education at its Tuesday meeting. The reason for her leave of absence has not been released.
