Motorcyclist Injured After Colliding with Car in Farmington

Police have not yet identified the driver.

A 50-year-old man sustained head and leg injuries after his motorcycle collided with a car just before 4 p.m. Monday.

The man, who police have not named as they notify next of kin, was transported via ambulance to Hartford Hospital after the crash near Routes 4 and 179 by the Burlington town line.

Farmington police, Tunxis Hose firefighters and UConn paramedics responded to the accident at 3:50 p.m. The North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Team was still on scene just after 7 p.m. to piece together how the accident occurred.

The motorcycle was towed around 6:30 p.m. Shards from the motorcycle were scattered on the ground. 

The occupants of the tan four-door sedan that collided with the motorcycle were not taken to the hospital, but the front bumper of the car was torn off.

Route 4 was be closed at Route 179 an River Road for several hours.
