Farmington police are asking for help identifying a man they say sexually assaulted two young girls, possibly more, at Westfarms mall Sunday afternoon.
According to police, the man who looks to be caucasian, between 30 or 40 years old, with dark hair and a goatee, entered Go Calendar and exposed himself to the two girls, one 6 years old, another a few years older around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. He was wearing a teal shirt, red shorts and had a large black bag.
Surveillance video shows the man stalk through the aisles of the store, following a girl about 8 years old who is walking with her mother, then stop. The girl is facing in the man's direction, while the mother — just inches away — looks the other way at items on a shelf. The man undoes his pants and exposes himself to the girl, who then quickly walks away without saying anything to her mother. The man covers himself with a large black bag he is carrying and calmly follows her down another aisle, exposing himself again.
The video shows another girl, 6 years old, riding a scooter through the store. The man meets her in an aisle, looks around to see if anyone's watching, then exposes himself to her, too. She rides away and he again follows her.
The 6-year-old later told her parents, who made the complaint to Farmington police, Lt. Marshall Porter said.
Police are looking for help identifying the man and for any other victims to call 860-675-2483, the department's confidential tip line. To speak with an officer, call 860-675-2400.
