Stamford Police Lift Amber Alert
Stamford police have not released why the alert was called off.

NBC Connecticut reported that a family was loading a box into their car and their child was screaming, so a passerby misread the situation and thought the child was being kidnapped.

An Amber Alert that was called due to a possible child abduction has been cancelled, according to local traffic reports.
Late Wednesday afternoon, police across Connecticut reported that witnesses saw a Hispanic male put a child into the trunk of a black Honda with the New York license plate number ENL9676.

The child, whose age has not been released, was reportedly taken at 100 Greyrock Place, which is two miles from I-95.
At this time, Stamford police cannot comment on why the amber alert was called off, or if an arrest has been made.

A "four or five" year-old child was forcibly taken from Stamford's Town Center Mall, according to a regional police broadcast.
Police reported around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday that a Hispanic male of an unknown age put a small child in the trunk of his car and drove off.
The identites of the man and the child, in addition to the child's age, have not been released.
