Police: Man Arrested in Avon Tied to Area Burglaries

The following arrest information was provided by the Avon Police Department and does not indicate a conviction.

A Plantsville man who Avon and Simsbury police arrested last month was also involved in burglaries in surrounding towns, police said.

David Kirychuk, 27, walked into a garage on Climax Road in Avon and witnesses told police that he drove away in a navy blue truck toward Bushy Hill Road in Simsbury, police said.

An Avon police sergeant driving toward Bushy Hill observed a man looking into a home on the Simsbury side of Climax Road, Avon police Lt. Kelly Walsh said. The man and vehicle matched the description given to police, she said. No one was home at the time, she said.

The Avon officer arrested him in connection to the Avon burglary and Simsbury police picked him up from the Avon Police Department to book him for further charges.

Kirychuk was charged with third-degree burglary on March 28 at 2:07 p.m. in Avon. Police released him after he posted a $5,000 surety bond.

It is unknown whether Kirychuk stole anything from either home, police said, but officers did recover miscellaneous jewelry in his car.

Police are investigating whether the jewelry was taken from the Avon home.
