Police: Man Disconnected Phone, Daughter Emailed for Help

Farmington man, accused of allowing his pit bulls to roam and attack another dog, was arrested Monday during a domestic dispute.

FARMINGTON – A local man arrested after police said his a neighbor’s Chihuahua Jan. 3 was arrested again Monday during a domestic dispute.

Shakeem Anderson, 37, of 14 Oakland Ave. in Farmington, was charged with second-degree strangulation, third-degree assault, disorderly conduct and interfering with a 911 call.

Police said Anderson is accused of assaulting his wife, choking her and disabling the phone when she tried to call police. Though the phone was disabled, Anderson’s daughter was able to contact police by sending emails on her iPod.

“She sent the emails directly to the chief and when he got them, he called right away,” said Farmington Police Lt. Marshall Porter.

But police were already there, responding to a 911 call Anderson made himself earlier in the dispute, Porter said.

Anderson’s wife, Stacey Miranti, 36, of the same address, was also arrested. She was charged with disorderly conduct and released. She is scheduled to appear Jan. 10, 2012.

The Connecticut Judicial Branch website shows that Anderson, born Dec. 31, 1974, was arrested in Bridgeport in Dec. of 2001 and found guilty of selling hallucinogens or narcotics. According to the website, Anderson was sentenced to eight years in jail, suspended after two, with three years probation.

Anderson was released on $25,000 surety bond and scheduled to appear Jan. 10, 2012.
