Police: Man Flees After Avon Mountain Car Accident, Charged with DUI

The following arrest information was provided by the Avon Police Department and does not indicate a conviction.

Police said that a Trumbull motorist left the scene of an accident after the driver of a car he hit on Avon Mountain Thanksgiving weekend told him the incident should be reported to the police.

Justin King, 41, of 82 Stoneleigh Rd., Trumbull, was then stopped by West Hartford police farther east on Route 44 over the town line after Avon police fed them the car's registration number. He was turned over by West Hartford police when Avon police came to pick him up for booking.

King has been charged by Avon Police with operation while under the influence, evading responsibility, and causing property damage or injury for the incident which occurred on Nov. 26 at 4:20 p.m., according to the Avon arrest log. He was also cited for following the woman's car too closely, according to police records.

Lt. Kelly Walsh, public information officer for the Avon Police Department, said that King's vehicle struck a woman's car from behind, damaging the whole back end of the car. Both parties pulled over and when the woman told King they needed to report the accident to the police, he got in his car and drove away.

The woman was transported to the University of Connecticut Health Center to be treated for neck pain. Carbiz towed her car.
