Joseph Stinnett's case has been continued to the Part A level of Hartford Superior Court for higher crimes. He will appear in court again on Jan. 24.
Original Story
Avon police have arrested a man who they said was planning on meeting a 15-year-old girl in Avon for "sexual purposes," according to a press release.
Joseph Stinnett, 24, was charged with criminal attempt at impairing the morals of a minor, criminal attempt at enticing a minor and obscenity on Thursday.
The department's Digital Investigation Unit began investigating the case about a month ago, the press release stated. Stinnett engaged in many "sexually explicit" and "unlawful" chats with the minor, police said. In several of those conversations, he told the girl he would come from Niantic to Avon to meet her for "sexual purposes," according to the press release.
Stinnett is currently in police custody after being arrested on a warrant, held on a $100,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 11.
