Police: Man Stole $1,700, $6,793 in Cigarettes from Avon Gas Station

A Bristol man faces several burglary charges after police say he entered a West Avon Road gas station convenience store and stole money and cigarettes last August.

Alberto Amezquita, 29, of 103 Burlington Ave. in Bristol, came through the back door of P&M Petro Mart where the BP gas station is on Aug. 24, police said. He damaged the in-store Minibank NH ATM in the process of stealing $1,700, police said, and also took about $6,793-worth of cigarettes.

“He’s at loss right now for everything," Lt. Kelly Walsh, public information officer for the Avon Police Department, said of the store owner. “He’s been hit before."

Nothing stolen has been recovered.

Amezquita faces charges of third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny, third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief and second-degree criminal trespass; first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal trespass and second-degree larceny

The owners noticed the back door open that August day when they were opening the store, calling police at 6:01 a.m. to report the burglary, police said.

Avon police secured an arrest warrant. Area police department saw it on his record when booking him on charges for a separate incident. He was arrested Nov. 3 at 11:15 a.m.

He is still in custody, held on a $100,000 bond, after his arrest and is scheduled to appear in court again on Dec. 4.
