Police: Two Accidents, Few Arrests New Year's Weekend

The following information was provided by the Avon Police Department.

Besides the overnight standoff Dec. 30-31 in Avon at Brian Benjamin's Lovely Street home that led to his arrest at the end of 2012, there was little crime over New Year's weekend, according to police.

There were also very few traffic violations or accidents.

Matthew Block, of Simsbury, and Shane Beauregard, of Canton, were charged with two counts of sixth-degree larceny and two counts conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny for two separate cases early afternoon on New Year's Eve, according to the arrest log.

Avon roads saw little police activity over New Year's weekend. Between Dec. 29, 2012 and Jan. 1, 2013, there were two motor vehicle accidents. Neither resulted in injury. Durig that time frame, police made five motor vehicle stops. Four of those were verbal warnings and one resulted in an infraction citation.

There were no speeding or traffic light or stop sign violations over the long weekend, according to police records.
