Police: Woman Assaults East Haven Officer During Arrest

East Haven Police arrest two women for allegedly stealing drinks and creating a late-night dispute at Barras Cafe on Main Street.

The following is a press release submitted by the East Haven Police Department, which is posted in the gallery that accompanies this article.

On February 25, arrested Daisy Bruno, 23, of 93 Lalord Street in New Britian, and Laynette Del Hoyo, 21, of 17 Belden Street on Hamden.

At approximately 1:45 a.m., an officer observed a dispute at the front door of located at 679 Main Street. As he exited his vehicle an employee approached the officer and stated that there had been a fight inside the bar.

The owner of the bar was attempting to keep Bruno from re-entering the bar. The owner stated that Bruno had started a dispute in the bar. Bruno continued to attempt to enter the bar and was advised by police to leave.

When the officer went to escort Bruno away from the doorway she struck him in the face causing an injury to his nose. The officer was treated for his injury and was able to continue working.

Both Bruno and Del Hoyo had started a dispute inside of the bar when they were stealing drinks from other customers.

Bruno was placed under arrest for Interfering with Police, Assault on a Police Officer and Breach of Peace 2nd Degree. Bruno was placed on a $5,000 bond.

Del Hoyo was charged with Breach of Peace 2nd Degree and placed on a $2,500.00 bond. Both Bruno and Del Hoyo were released on bond and have a March 7 court date.

Well, Connie, if you can honestly tell me that you think it is fine that people are here in this country illegally, and use and abuse resources that they are not entitled to because they don't pay a cent into it, and may now even get the right to vote, which should only be reserved for citizens of this country, if you can honestly tell me that you agree with all this, then more power to you, you must be a saint. No, I do not have any tolerance for breaking the law, period, and taking the easy way out instead of doing right and taking what you are not entitled to. If that makes me intolerant, so be it. It just makes me not afraid to tell the truth. I don't hide behind a righteous facade. I prefer to be like me, thank you.

i have morals. And actually we didnt steal drinks, he threw his drink at me so i hit him with my brand new nice and cold corona bottle. i know what a waste of a perfect corona. :)

thank you. Mind you we are HISPANIC and they were WHITE mmmmhhhh??? wasnt this town in crazy trouble last year because of racial profiling and harrasment??? yeahhh okay i thought so
