Car Knocks Down Utility Pole on Talcott Notch Road in Avon [Update, 7:41 p.m., Feb. 4]

A portion of the road remains closed in Avon and Farmington for repairs to the utility pole after the one-car accident.

The impact of a car colliding with a utility pole late Sunday night caused it to fall on Talcott Notch Road in Avon.

Only the driver was in the vehicle during the one-car accident and no one was injured, Avon Police Lt. Kelly Walsh said. The crash occurred at 11:35 p.m. on Sunday.

A portion of the road remains closed as Connecticut Light and Power repairs the utility pole, Walsh confirmed.

CL&P is not reporting any power outages in Avon and Farmington at this time.

Police and Connecticut Light and Power are on scene where a utility pole fell on Talcott Notch Road, Avon police confirmed.

The road is closed from Waterville Road in Avon to Old Mountain Road in Farmington, police said. Traffic is being detoured to Acqueduct Lane in Avon off Waterville Road, which passes into Farmington beyond Old Mountain Road.

There is no estimation at this time how long the road will remain closed. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
