Second Man Charged With Filming Up Skirts, This Time in Stop & Shop

WEST HARTFORD – Just one day after a Hartford man was charged with using a cell phone to film up the skirts and dresses of Whole Foods customers, charged another man with a similar crime at the Farmington Avenue . This time there were 32 victims instead of six.

Police reported Monday that they had charged Rodolfo Tamaniz-Cruz, 25, of 291 S. Quaker Lane, West Hartford, with 32 counts of breach of peace and 32 counts of voyeurism. He was arrested on Friday, Aug. 3.

The police report states: "Accused was witnessed by Stop and Shop employees video taping customers. The accused would utilize a cell phone camera, place it inside of his back pack and manipulate the back pack under female clothing in an attempt to record their private areas."

The women have not been identified, and police said they were not sure if all the videos were recorded on the same day.

Lt. Jeffrey Rose of the West Hartford Police said this arrest was a completely separate incident from the one at the Raymond Road Whole Foods. "It's either a bizarre coincidence or a copy cat," Rose said on Monday.

Tamaniz-Cruz is being held on $75,000 bond.

In the Whole Foods case, Giovanni Geronilla, 34, of 24 Park Pl., Hartford, allegedly took video with his cell phone up the skirts of six women who were shopping at Whole Foods between the hours of 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2.

Police said that Geronilla placed his cell phone in a shopping basket, and either held the basket or slid it under their skirts to take the video.
