Secretary Injured in Car Accident Thanks School Community

Lori Angelbeck is out of the hospital recovering from a head-on collision on Lovely Street.

Within a day of hearing that Roaring Brook School office secretary Lori Angelbeck was injured in a Jan. 11, cards that students made to her door.

"The students, parents and staff at RBS have been sending me lots of cards, flowers, meals, prayers and good wishes," Angelbeck, 61, said. "Our Roaring Brook School community is so generous and to be the recipient of their generosity is truly heartwarming and definitely helps the healing. I miss them all and hope to be back soon."

Angelbeck was coming around a curve on Lovely Street Jan. 11 on the way home to Farmington from the school when an oncoming car veered from its lane, crossed the yellow lines and hit the front end of her car, she wrote in an e-mail to Patch. The accident happened near the intersection with Roaring Brook Road, beyond Chevas Road.

"It happened so fast," she wrote. "All I had time to do was hit the brakes."

Her airbag deployed upon impact and she was later transported to the hospital. She has since been released and is taking time off from work to recover.

The driver of the other car, Sabadino Parker, 35, of New Britain, was evacuated via LifeStar.

The North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Team is still investigating the cause of the accident and working on a report. were not available for comment on Monday.
