Three Accidents in Avon Memorial Day Weekend and No Arrests

State police report 260 accidents in the state over the Memorial Day weekend, including 18 injuries, four fatalities and 70 DWI arrests.

While there were over 250 car accidents that the State Police responded to over Memorial Day weekend, there were only three accidents in Avon.

Only of the Avon accidents, which happened around noon Friday on West Main Street (Route 44), caused injuries. Police are not releasing details on the accident because it involves a juvenile. Another accident also occurred later in the day on the state highway near the intersection with Climax Road just before 4 p.m. that caused traffic buildup from there to Ensign Drive. The third accident, Lt. Kelly Walsh of the Avon Police Department said, took place at Old Farms Road and Scoville Road.

Avon police did not make any arrests Memorial Day weekend, but officers did stop 33 vehicles. Police have not released details on the nature of the stops.
