Units 36, 37 and 38 of Farmington Woods condominiums on Heritage Drive in Avon were heavily damaged in a fire at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12. 

About 50 firefighters from Avon, Farmington, Simsbury and Canton responded and put the flames out in about an hour and a half. Avon firefighters were still on scene as of 8:30 a.m. 

Officials from the Avon and state fire marshal's offices were on scene investigating the cause.
