Tree Falls Through Bedroom in Avon Edgewood Home

Trees were down on a couple of houses and roads, town officials confirmed.

A tree fell onto an Edgewood house in Avon, crashing through a bedroom during Hurricane Sandy on Monday night, Avon Fire Chief Michael Trick confirmed.

Avon Volunteer Fire Department personnel were on scene as of 8:53 p.m., as well as police.

A tree also came down on at least one other house in town, according to Avon Assistant Town Manager Steve Bartha.

Further information, including the location of the other house affected, is not available at this time, as Avon police and emergency personnel were tied up with a number of calls Monday evening.

Fallen trees are blocking roads in town, but town officials have not released which streets are closed at this time.

Residents are advised to stay off the roads during the storm.

There are four Avon Public Works workers with two trucks and two Connecticut Light and Power linemen with one truck working overnight in Avon, according to Bartha.

More information on closed roads and fallen debris should be available Tuesday.
