Two Sedans Totaled after Head-on Collision on Juniper Drive

Three transported to Hartford Hospital, St. Francis Hospital and UConn Health Center to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Three people are in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a two-car head-on collision on Juniper Drive Tuesday morning.

The Avon Volunteer Fire Department was on-scene at around 9 a.m., according to Fire Capt. Joseph Speich, and extricated the rear passenger from a red Chevrolet Cavalier. The individual was in critical condition and brought to John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington to be treated for a possible fractured femur, head injuries and face laceration, Lt. Kelly Walsh, spokeswoman for the Avon Police Department, said.

The driver of the vehicle was treated at St. Francis Hospital for a possible ankle fracture and the front passenger sustained neck injuries and was also brought to John Dempsey, according to Walsh. All three were

The identities of the individuals have not been revealed at this time.

There was heavy front-end damage to both cars.

The police are still investigating the accident.

Avon Police Department, American Medical Response personnel and paramedics from the UConn Health Center also responded to the accident scene near 107 Juniper Drive.

Just after 10:30 a.m. A1 Towing and Collinsville Autobody towed the totaled cars, as the fire department continued to clean off the scene.

The fire department blocked the road off at Stagecoach Road and Avonridge from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
