Vacuum Cleaner Crime Roundup, Easy Commute for Burglary Suspect

Canton police responding to a report of a man on the roof of a condominium complex wearing gloves, carrying a crowbar, and checking windows arrested 27-year-old Anthony Buccheri. He faces charges of burglary, attempted burglary and possession of burglary tools. His address is 50 East Hill Road, Unit 3P — in the same condominium complex. Police said he is a suspect in three other Canton burglaries and is being questioned about more in Farmington.

Southington police said that when an officer tried to pull over an unregistered vehicle on the Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike, the driver led police on a chase into Cheshire, where officers from that town joined the pursuit. When the vehicle was finally stopped near Interstate 84, police said, the driver and two passengers said they hadn't stopped because they had a Dyson Ball vacuum cleaner, which they had stolen from Home Depot, in the car. The retail price of the vacuum cleaner is $549. Michael Rowland and Nicole Gamble of Meriden and Vincent Jankowski Jr. of Wallingford were arrested on charges of fifth-degree larceny. Rowland, identified by police as the driver, also faces several motor vehicle charges, including reckless driving and engaging in pursuit. Gamble also faces charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In other police-related Dyson vacuum cleaner news, Norwalk police arrested a local man suspected of buying Dyson vacuum cleaners from Wal-Marts, removing their motors and then returning them for a refund. Police said he did this five times. [Redacted[, 47, was arrested on a charge of third-degree larceny.

Fairfield police brought in a woman who operates a search-and-rescue organization with a dog trained to search for cadavers after a man walking on Southport Beach reported finding a heart and lung at the high-tide mark. A veterinarian also summoned to the scene couldn’t determine if the organs were from a human or animal. Police eventually delivered the heart and lung to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington, which determined they were from a deer. "I couldn't even speculate how it got there," Police Sgt. Sue Lussier, a department spokesman, said of the remains on the beach.

Manchester police said a man and woman stole sunglasses from a kiosk and coins from a fountain after hours at the Shoppes at Buckland Hills mall. Tyquan R. Strickland of East Hartford was arrested on charges of third-degree robbery, third-degree criminal mischief, third-degree trespass, third-degree assault, breach of peace and sixth-degree larceny. Police said he fought with security personnel at the mall. Chambriell Strickland of Hartford was charged with sixth-degree larceny, breach of peace, third-degree criminal mischief and interfering with police.
