The 2012 State GOP Convention is currently underway. The Democrats had theirs earlier this week, endorsing Chris Murphy for U.S. Senate and Chris Donovan for Murphy's Fifth District U.S. Congress seat.

"I am a long-term supporter of Congressman Murphy, backing him since before he went to Congress!" Worobow said. "I believe he is the perfect candidate due to his ability to attract independent voters throughout the 5th District and now throughout the State of Connecticut. He also is a tireless campaigner."

Despite party endorsements for Congress and Senate, there will be primaries in August.

"There will be a three way primary in the 5th Congressional District, even though Speaker Donovan has the endorsement of the party. I do think it is a shame we have this primary only because it dilutes our financial resources!" Worobow said. "Whoever wins the primary, needs to be able to attract independent voters if they hope to win the general election."

Bipartisanship is one trait that will be very important in the Fifth District race, according to Worobow.

"Avon Dems want a candidate who can bridge the aisle with Republicans and can work on our fiscal issues, both from a budgetary factor and some needed revenue generation," Worobow said.
