Avon Election 2013 Official Results

The results are in!

All 12 Avon Republicans who ran this fall were elected, as well as the three Democratic incumbents on major boards, according to unofficial election results submitted by the Republican party.

"The tremendous support from Avon's voters in terms of turnout and support to elect all 12 of our Republican candidates shows that our town is a place people are proud to call home and want it to continue that way," Republican Town Committee Chairman Brian Ladouceur, Jr wrote in an email to Patch.

Democratic Town Committee Chairman Daryl Worobow expressed disappointment with the results for his party's slate but congratulated the Republicans.

"With some very strong candidates and support from key individuals, we would have expected better results. We wish the newly elected Republicans well and will continue to support our candidates who won," Worobow wrote in an email. "However, we continue to pursue issues relating to strategic planning and financial management in the Town."

All five Town Council seats were open, as well as five of the seven Board of Finance slots and four of the nine Board of Education posts.

This election we had a total team effort and added many new faces to our volunteer ranks," Ladouceur Jr. said. "It goes to show that Avon has high information voters who recognize how well the town is run, are not swayed by mis-information and divisive tactics, and that the hard work of going door to door and events to make a personal connection with people still has a place in local politics.

"My sincere hope is that newly re-elected Democrat candidates will work with their fellow Republican board / council members as before and also be the catalyst for change within their party leadership to shed the divisive tactics that failed to win over voters and is not in keeping with what is best for Avon," he added.

Here are the official tallies, as confirmed by the Registrars of Voters Office.
