Avon Finance Board to Vote on Proposed $81.76 Million Budget

What result would make you happy?

Now that the Avon Board of Finance's public hearing on the proposed $81.76 million budget for 2013-14, the process moves onto the review stage.

The finance board will hold a budget workshop on April 10 at 7 p.m. that is open to the public but not a hearing. Once the workshop concludes, the board typically votes on an adjusted budget figure, which will determine whether the town or school board will be asked to reduce their requests.

If more time is needed, a second budget workshop will be scheduled for the following week.

As proposed, the budget would require a 2.6 percent tax rate increase. The combined proposed total includes requests of about $28.93 million for the town operating, capital improvement, debt services and sewers budgets and $52.8 million for the school board operating budget.

The budget workshop will be at the Avon Senior Center.
