Residents Association Seeks Public Input on CREC Proposal

Avon resident Eric Throndson launches a poll on his newly formed Web site.

An Avon Place condo owner is seeking public input about the Capitol Region Education Council's proposal to build a larger Reggio Magnet School of the Arts and relocate it to 59 Waterville Road.

Eric Throndson, who is part of the Avonwood Road Residents Association, launched www.avonwoodroad.org on June 3 to keep condo residents updated on the proposal and convey his perspective.

Avonwood Road intersects with Waterville Road near the education council's selected site, which is adjacent to Avon Cider Mill.

Throndson created an online survey that allows the public to check off one of the following response options:

  1. "Building a school on that spot is just plain dumb."
  2. "It should be ok, as long as the solutions below are implemented."
  3. "What's all the hype about? Just build it without all these proposed solutions."

Throndson also posted his suggestions for steps he said he thinks are necessary before locating a school on Waterville Road.
