Why These Avon Taxpayers May Receive Refunds

The Town Council will review the tax collector's request at its Thursday night meeting.

Avon's collector of revenue is asking the Town Council for approval at its Thursday meeting to grant nearly $25,162 in real estate tax refunds.

Five account holders overpaid the amount they owed based on property assessments from the Oct. 1, 2011 Grand List.

"The reason for these overpayments is the taxpayer or attorney sent in payment as well as their bank," Avon Tax Collector Deborah Fioretti wrote in a memorandum to Town Manager Brandon Robertson on Feb. 20 made available in material town staff submitted to the council. "The banks pay their accounts by sending one file and we were not able to pull these paid accounts which resulted in the overpayments."

Fioretti is requesting tax refunds for the following individuals and tax service organizations:

Tax Refund Requests

Taxpayers Real Estate Tax Refund Requested
Charles A. and Dale A. Primiano $5,108 Michael and Maria Conroy $4,687 Corelogic Tax Services, of Westlake, TX $3,736 Corelogic Tax Services, of Westlake, TX $9,114 QBE First, of Durham, NC $2,515

The Avon Town Council meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the basement of Avon Town Hall, Building 1.
