  • With the 2012 election approaching, redistricting is a topic that . The voting district has grown, so Town Hall may no longer be big enough. Redistricting is on the meeting agenda under new business.
  • The Board of Education has requested access to $1.5 million in unbudgeted revenue that would have otherwise been placed in a former revolving account that rolled over annually. The Town Council and Board of Finance are required to approve supplemental appropriations before the schools or town can access unbudgeted revenue.

In a net budget, like Avon Public Schools currenly has, revenue is not included whereas it is in a gross budget. The district will switch to gross accounting next year. This request is intended to ease the transition, John Spang, school district finance director previously said.

  • The council will also review a school board request for permission to apply $163,478 in leftover school board funds from 2010-11 to the current fiscal year's budget. Traditionally, any surplus is deposited in the to build upon the town's cumulative surplus, Board of Finance Chairman Thomas Harrison previously said.
