Elections Taking Place Despite Electricity Outages

However, the Roaring Brook School voting venue may change if the school still doesn't have power.

Elections will go on as scheduled Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Avon High School and Town Hall, but it is unclear at this time whether Roaring Brook School on Old Wheeler Lane will have power in time.

While Connecticut Light & Power officials are projecting that power will be restored to all of Avon by Sunday at 11:59 p.m. and 99 percent to the entire state, town officials came up with a backup plan in case CL&P does not meet the deadline.

Municipalities can legally change the place of a venue if there is a power outage at the original location, Town Manager Brandon Robertson said.
