Five Things to Know About Tuesday Inland Wetlands Meeting

Five things to know on Sept. 6, 2011.

When

  • The Avon Inland Wetlands Commission is scheduled to meet for a regular meeting on Sept. 6 at 7 p.m.

Where

  • The meeting will take place in the Selectmen's Conference Room in , Building 1, on 60 West Main St.

New Applications

  • In July, Capitol Region Education Council representative John Mena met with the commission seeking wetlands approval for building a magnet school at 59 Waterville Rd. The commission members and town staff wanted more time to review the education council's responses to some of their questions, and since there was no August meeting, the application was tabled until September. Before the education council can get site plan approval from the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Inland Wetlands Commission must pass it.
  • On behalf of the town of Avon, Town Manager Brandon Robertson has submitted an application for "construction of a gravel parking lot, bituminous handicapped parking, rain garden, storm drainage and related grading;" "athletic fields, wet meadow, butterfly garden, pavilion, storm drainage and related grading;" "stone dust trail and related grading;" "stone dust emergency access drive and related grading;" and "storm drainage outlets, bank stabilization and related grading" at 800 Old Farms Rd. where is located.

Next Meeting

  • Oct. 4, 2011
