In the event that you were not at the Tuesday Planning and Zoning meeting in the Avon Senior Center, here's what you missed.

Reggio Magnet School of the Arts

The Planning and Zoning Commission continued the public hearing to July 19 because the Capitol Region Education Council needs to get approval from the Inland Wetlands Commission before planning and zoning can approve anything. The education council will appear before Inland Wetlands on July 5 at 7 p.m. in Town Hall, Building One.

The education council also commissioned a traffic study at the intersection of Waterville Road and Avonwood Road and is going to approach the Department of Transportation and State Traffic Commission about the possibility of installing a traffic light with left turn signals.

The commission unanimously approved the ammendment to the Avon zoning regulations to adopt the Avon Village Center Zone, as well as the amendment to the 2006 Plan of Conservation and Development to adopt the project design guidelines.

A New Restaurant for Nod Brook Mall

Colony Grill has received special exception approval from the commission to put a Class III restaurant where 99 Restaurant and Pub used to be before it closed on Dec. 24, 2010. The restaurant will only serve pizza. This will be the third restaurant in that location. On the Border was the first.

From Boston Market to a Bank

Accubranch, LLC, has applied for site plan approval to design a drive thru bank where Boston Market previously was located on Route 44. The discussion will be continued on July 19.
