Grant to Senior Center Will Pay for Computers, Webcams

The Avon Senior Center has received $1,958.85 in grant money through the Neighborhood Assistance Act Program.

Connecticare representatives came to the senior center last week to present the check to Senior Center Coordinator Jennifer Bennett.

The money for "Superior Synchronized Seniors- A Technology Dream" will help the center pay for "new computers, webcams and (possibly) a new printer for the senior computer room," according to a press release from the town.

"The Connecticut Neighborhood Assistance Act (NAA) Tax Credit Program provides funding for municipal and tax exempt organizations by offering a corporate business tax credit for businesses that make cash contributions to these entities," the release stated. "Businesses can receive a credit of 60 percent of their approved contribution to certain programs approved by the Department of Revenue Services."
