Avon High School Principal Jason Beaudin Soon to Depart for Guilford Position

Beaudin offers thanks to the Board of Education. His resignation is effective Jan. 1, 2013.

Avon High School Principal Jason Beaudin will be departing the Avon school system, accepting an assistant superintendent position in Guilford. At the meeting of the Avon Board of Education Tuesday evening, Beaudin thanked the board and administrators for the opportunity to lead the school. His resignation will take effect on Jan 1, 2013.

Beaudin began work as principal of Avon High School in the summer of 2007.

Board Chairman Peggy Roell said that Superintendent Gary Mala has already begun the search to appoint an interim principal to hold the position until the end of the school year. He has also begun the process for building a committee to find a permanent replacement for Beaudin.

"The search committee will be a cross-section of the community," Roell said. "The search will follow a process similar to the one recently completed to find an assistant superintendent."

In other business, the Board agreed by a 7-2 vote to forward the school budget to the Town Council. The submitted budget was unchanged from the superintendent's submitted plan and calls for a 2.78% increase over this year.
