The annual town budget meeting starts at 7 p.m. Monday at the . The public is invited to attend.

TOWN MEETINGS

Thursday, May 10

  • The Avon Water Polution Control Authority is scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. at Avon .
  • The Natural Resources Commission is scheduled to meet at 7:30 p.m. in Town Hall Building 7.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Calling all  track alumni. The team is hosting a at the high school on Saturday in conjunction with a friendly meet against Lewis Mills. The meet starts at 2 p.m. At 3 p.m., alumni and their families are invited to participate in a open one-mile run. The entry fee is $10. The coaches will also compete in a relay against their Lewis Mills counterparts. There will be a barbecue after the meet.
  • School's out in a month. Have you thought about your summer plans? Registration for Avon Recreation and Parks is open!

May 9

  • "Let's Talk About It: Making Sense of the Civil War" is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the . This is the fifth part in a series and is co-sponsored by the Avon Historical Society.

May 10, 11 and 12

  • Follow the Avon High School theater program "Into the Woods" for this year's spring musical. Shows start at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and doors open at 6:30 p.m. More information is available on the Avon theater website: http://www.theatreatavonhigh.weebly.com. Tickets can be purchased at the door and cost $15 for adults and $10 for students and people 65 and older. 

May 11

  • The Avon Lions annual pasta dinner fundraiser is scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m. at the senior center.
  • Not quite ready for The Voice, but want to share your voice?  is hosting an  on Friday at 7 p.m.

May 12

  • The Garden Club of Avon's May Plant Sale is scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. at , located along Route 44.
  • Gen. Robert E. Lee is coming to the Avon library in a manner of speaking Saturday at 1 p.m. Kent A. Sinram will put on a dramatic performance to educate attendees about the confederate army commander. To register, call 860-673-9712 visit the library's website, www.avonctlibrary.info.
