Last Chance: Two More Days Until Budget Referendum
A look at what's ahead for meetings, sports, events and deadlines for May 14 to 20, 2012.
Wednesday is your chance to vote on the $78.7 million proposed 2012-13 budget.
The question on the ballot that you will vote yes or no on is as follows:
“Shall the Annual Town Budget in the amount of $78,729,793, as recommended by the Board of Finance, for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2012 be approved?”

Tuesday, May 15

The fair is scheduled for Thursday, May 31 at from 7 to 9 p.m.
- Congratulations to , of Avon, who is at the University of Rhode Island’s Graduate School of Oceanography. He will be shipping out literally soon for some field work and is hoping to have a spot on Ballard's research team in the future.
- There's always a lot of community spirit in Avon. These students raised money for March of Dimes by reading! How are you giving back?

- The Connecticut Daylily Society is hosting a plant sale at the senior center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to the town website.
Sunday May 20
- The is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. at Pine Grove School. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and costs $25 the day of the event $20 in advance. At 10 a.m., there will be a Fun Run for the kids. Registration for that is $12. Proceeds support Pine Grove's Parent-Teacher Organization. There will be food, music and an awards ceremony after the races. Avon Patch Editor Jessie Sawyer and The Granbys Patch Editor Ted Glanzer will be running in the race. We hope to see you there and be sure to say hello.
