Maturo: "I Ask for Your Continued Patience' as Town Crews Clear Roads

East Haven Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr is asking for residents' to remain patient as town road crews work to clear the streets and roadways from some three feet of snow that fell during the blizzard.

The following is an open letter to East Haven residents from Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr posted via his public Facebook page.

To my fellow residents:

I have been receiving your concerns via e-mail about the condition of the roads and understand everyone's frustration with the speed of the cleanup.

However, I can assure everyone that our Public Works Department has not stopped working since the start of this blizzard.

Our public works employees did not go home last night and they will be working straight through the night again to clear roads and make it safe to travel.

In order to speed up the cleanup process, the Town has engaged outside contractors to supplement our Public Works Department.

I will remind you all that the Town is still in a state of emergency and that most businesses are closed.

As a result, you should continue to stay off the roads until they can be made safe for travel.

I ask for your continued patience as our Public Works Department continues to respond to this blizzard.

Thank you for your patience and please be safe.

Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr.

Yes Jacobo, because apparently some people have such pathetically boring lives they will dig and dig for anything if you don't agree with what their views are. It really is quite sad, isn't it? Oh well, such is life...back to enjoying being snowed in with my family...that is what is important to me. Too bad everyone can't be as lucky to actually enjoy their loved ones....and their own lives....sad, so sad....

Ginger you must be quite a women to deal with on a daily basis...I thought you weren't snowed in, you got plowed out. And you appear to spend as much time on this patch site as the rest of us...but WE are the ones that are lonely and miserable...lot's of hypocrisy going on here. Yes those of us that blog, except for you of course, are sad just so sad. I think I will go end it all now, just so sad.......

Wow!! There are some really angry people around here!! Our PW guys are working very hard, on little sleep, and have not seen their own families, and all some of you can do is complain?? I happened to look over some of the comments, now and from 2011, and I have to say, not much has changed. People were angry then and they are angry now. At least this time around, it was a monumental storm, not a small storm by comparison like 2011. If I remember correctly, the last admin didn't do such a great job in snow storms either. Not sure what anyone was trying to prove by bringing up the past, but it seems to be an epic fail to me. Just reminds people just how bad we had it back then...
