Miller Foods to Promote Connecticut-Based Vendors with Miller Marketplace

The first day the Avon marketplace opens is Sept. 15.

Connecticut grown and made products are rising in demand and Avon-based food distributor Miller Foods will give local vendors exposure at its new .

The event will be run Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 15 to Oct. 27.

"The goal is to gain interest in locally made and grown products," Capri Frank, project manager, said.

Frank said that farmers markets are successful and the marketplace will serve a similar role as a destination. Frank called it a festival of sorts.

There will also be a section for dogs. The family behind Miller Foods also has a raw dog food line called Oma's Pride and treats will be available for canine friends people bring the market.

Other items besides food will be featured too, like laundry detergent made of goat milk. Local artisans will also be there.

Miller Foods is letting the businesses featured use the space for free and there is no admission price.
