The Avon Free Public Library can help!

The following press release was prepared by the Avon Free Public Library. 

Avon Free Public Library offers free tax assistance for filing 2013 tax returns on Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings.

The AARP tax aide service is designed for lower-income people with simple returns but available to all income levels filing a simple return. Tax volunteers may refuseto complete a tax return for any reason.

Simple returns may not include:

1. real estate rental or trust income, other than some K trusts.

2. foreign income.

3. Military income with housing or travel expenses.

4. hand-written investment or memorized tax data can not be accepted.

Simple returns may include:1. Sch. D (Capital Gains) and one page (up to 24 transactions) of Schedule D1 only.

2. Military wage income3. Limited self-employment returns Sch.C (Net Profit from Business) with no employees and total expenses not to exceed $10,000.Bring last year’s federal and state returns, all deduction receipts and statements, and your savings or checking account number for refund deposits.
