Planning and Zoning Holds Workshop on Avon Park North Zoning Regulations

In order for a downtown to be developed, the commission would have to change the zone from industrial to a village center mixed use zone.

In order for the plans to develop a village center in Avon Park North to move forward, Avon has to change its zoning regulations for the desired site.

That is what the Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to discuss at a special meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Town Hall.

The meeting is a workshop for the commission to "review proposed changes to the zoning regulations in connection with a new zoning district known as the Avon Village Center Zone."

Avon Park North is currently zoned as an industrial park, which would not allow for the mixed used purposes proposed for a center that would include restaurants, retail stores, offices and residential condominiums.
