A comparable new business is opening in Avon for your dogs.

No, not for the dogs to clean their clothes and wash their cars. It's a self-service place for you to bring your dogs to clean them.

The Planning and Zoning Commission approved business owner Mark Smith's application to open The Dog Wash on 192 West Main St. at its Dec. 13, 2011 meeting. That is located at Leibert Real Estate Limited Partnership's building, where , and are located.

Area residents will be able to bring their dogs for " a bath, blow dry and brushing," according to the application submitted to the commission, and The Dog Wash may offer the means for "trimming," "removing matted fur" and "cutting nails." All supplies and equipment will be provided, including restraints for the dogs while they're being washed.

The cost is about $19.99 a wash, according to the business overview on Smith's application. A PDF of the plan is attached.

The Dog Wash's hours, as listed on the application, will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Customers will need to make appointments.
