[Update] Simsbury Schools and Town Offices Closed, Parking Ban Starts Friday Morning

Simsbury Schools and town offices are closed on Friday.

As a massive winter storm approaches the state, town officials are taking early precautions to ensure resident safety. The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Watch for northern Conn. beginning early on Friday and into Saturday.

Simsbury Public Schools are closed on Friday, according to Supt. Matthew Curtis. Curtis made the decision to close schools Thursday evening as forecasters are calling for blizzard conditions. Town offices are also closed along with state goverment offices.

The town of Simsbury has issued a parking ban for all roads that will go into effect at 7 a.m. on Friday and continue until further notice.

“Our emergency operations staff met this afternoon and will continue to monitor this storm very closely,” First Selectman Mary Glassman said.
