Who Will Avon Democrats Endorse for Senate?

That is something the town committee will discuss at its Democratic caucus Wednesday, featuring keynote speaker Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman.

The Avon Democratic Town Committee is slated to discuss the possibility of endorsing U.S. Rep. Chris Murphy, at its Wednesday caucus, in his run to fill Joe Lieberman's U.S. Senate seat.

Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman will be in attendance as keynote speaker.

The public is invited and registered Democrats are eligible to vote and serve on the committee, according to the Avon Democrats' website.

Daryl Worobow is interim committee chairman and took over for Elaine Primeau, former vice chair and interim chairperson, in December, according to the town committee's website.

“This is an exciting time for the Avon Democratic Party as we see renewed interest among local Democrats to bring change to Avon,” he stated on the town committee's website Dec. 15, 2011. “2012 marks a new beginning for the Avon Democratic Party. Our main objectives for the year are to engage the community and increase participation of local Democrats in upcoming events and elections.”

The committee will also inform attendees about open positions on town boards and commissions, as well as discuss the process of electing new officers, the town committee website states, and refreshments will be served.

The caucus is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Avon Room, located in the basement of Town Hall Building One. Worobow is available to answer further questions at 860-716-5730.
