You Said It: Zone Change Rejection Blocks Proposed Housing Development [Video]

The main reason why the entire Planning and Zoning Commission voted no.

In the spirit of preserving five acres of open space, the Planning and Zoning Commission rejected a zone change that would have paved the way for JZMAR LLC to build a five-lot housing subdivision.

"I really think that by making this zone change, because it's just taking a chip of the property, it's affecting the existing and planned feel of the area and is not in line with the current plan of conservation," commission member Chris Gackstatter said.

After hearing multiple complaints and questions from residents about wording in the town's zoning regulation that describes open space in general as "permanently protected, Town Planner Steven Kushner suggested upgrading the types of zones.
