In 2010, the house was listed on the market for $8,950,000, according to the Hartford Courant. Another fun feature?

"A castle-like play structure is equipped with a 30-foot slide, a zip line, a climbing tower and hand-carved gargoyles," the Courant reported.

And just in case Cooper needs a suggestion on how to entertain guests at his new home, here's one from a traveler who stayed in the estate via the HomeAway website, a site that features rental vacation homes.

"... My friends held a Gatsby themed birthday party at the house and everyone had such a great time," reviewer Johnny wrote.

The Rye House, as Cooper's estate is called, was available for rental as recently as September of last year.

The Post reports Cooper spent somewhere between $5 and $9 million for the 10,127-square foot home. According to Zillow, the stone and stucco English Country manor house was built in 1908 and overlooks the Litchfield Hills.

It was designed by architect Wilson Eyre for heiress Isabella Douglas Curtis. Eyre was born in Italy and studied in Europe, Newport, Rhode Island, and Canada. He also studied architecture briefly at MIT and gained renown due to his "deliberately informal and welcoming country houses," according to the Wilson Eyre Wikipedia entry.
