Avon School Officials Wear Sandy Hook Green

Administrators and school board members wore the ribbons to Tuesday's school board meeting in remembrance of the Newtown tragedy victims.

Many Avon administrators and Board of Education members donned green ribbon pins at the regular school board meeting on Tuesday.

The ribbons signified a concerted effort by the Connecticut Education Association and educators statewide "to contribute to a fund to erect a monument for those that lost their life in Sandy Hook," according to Avon Superintendent Gary Mala.

"The board is wearing those this evening in recognition of that effort and that is fairly significant, so we thank you," Mala said.
