Avon Public Schools have announced that all schools will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 10, according to NBC Connecticut and WFSB.
Reggio Magnet School of the Arts and Farmington Valley Academy Montessori in Avon both are closed, as well, NBC Connecticut reports.
Two to four inches of snow is expected, falling between 7 and 10 a.m. and throughout the afternoon, the bulk of the snowfall landing between late morning and early afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. The weather service has declared a winter weather advisory until 5 p.m.
"Accumulating snow will cause slippery travel conditions beginning at the end of this morning's commute," the National Weather Service states in its advisory. "The snow will continue through the day into this evening's commute."
The outdoor temperature was 34 degrees just after 6 a.m. with highs of 33 predicted for the rest of the day, according to the weather service.
