With three snow days to date, April Vacation for Avon schools remains unscathed so far.
Avon builds five days into its approved school calendar in the event of possible school cancellations due to weather. Should Avon's snow days surpass five, additional make up days would come out of a scheduled school vacation.
The district currently has a winter recess from Feb. 18 to 21, as well as a day off on President's Day Feb. 17. April Vacation runs from April 14 to 17, with no school on April 18, Good Friday, either. See Avon's school calendar by clicking on the link provided.
Next year, Avon is doing something different. Instead of an April vacation, Avon will have its spring recess in March for 2014-15 (March 9-13). The winter recess will run from Dec. 24 to Jan. 2 and there will be no February vacation. Students will get President's Day off on Feb. 16, however. The 2014-15 calendar was approved in October of 2013.
