PHOTOS: Avon Wins 5-0 in Pink Out Game Under the Lights

The Avon Falcons had a 5-0 victory over Somers Tuesday, but there was more at stake than goals that night.

As the Falcons surged the field dressed in pink jerseys and socks, it was about "kicking out cancer" at a Pink Out soccer game under the lights at .

The Avon High girls and boys soccer teams have teamed up to raise money for the American Cancer Society in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Donations were collected at the girls junior varsity and varsity games Tuesday. The team also sold longsleeve "Kick it for Cancer" shirts for $20 as part of the fundraiser.

Avon senior Erica Primovic scored a hat trick against Somers. Fellow senior Grace Lennon assisted all three and netted a goal of her own. Senior Olivia Hammick was the third scorer.

Both boys teams will face Canton on Friday at Avon High for a Pink Out game, 4:30 p.m. for junior varsity and 7 p.m. under the lights for varsity. The boys will also be dressed in pink uniforms. Limited "Kick it for Cancer" shirts will be sold at the varsity game.

All Snack Shack proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society and donations will be collected. Three pink "cure" balls used at both junior varsity and varsity games will be signed by the varsity players and auctioned off, starting at a bidding price of $50.
