CEA: Accusations Against Avon Teachers 'Do Not Contain a Shred of Truth'

A week has passed since Avon parents filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Hartford against Avon Public Schools, three teachers and a guidance counselor, alleging cult indoctrination and a host of other strange behaviors by educators over several years.

The Connecticut Education Association represents 43,000 teachers in the state and they issued a statement on May 30 in support of the Avon teachers.

"All teachers deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, and it is troubling to witness innocent educators being falsely implicated," the CEA stated. "We emphasize that the federal complaint contains nothing but accusations. All indications are that these accusations do not contain a shred of truth."

The CEA said they are working in tandem with the Avon Education Association to fully support the Avon educators.

"We are heartened by the support that the Avon Public Schools has shown to the town’s educators, and we look forward to a speedy resolution of this matter," the CEA said.
