Celebrating a Week of Breaking Free From TV
Avon parents and students culminate a week of TV-free activities with a family picnic at Pine Grove School.
Friday night, children were everywhere behind the Pine Grove School, not a single one in watching television.
They were finishing a Break Free from TV Week, each day filled with activities from Bingo to a martial arts session.
The kids made tye-die T-shirts and went on an adventuresome scavenger hunt. Kent Besocke played his guitar for the families. The Break Free of TV committee was headed by Penny Coppen, Betsy Hole and Suzanne Lancaster.

The Avon Volunteer Fire Department sprinkled vast arcs of water over the playing field.
And what did the kids say? Avon parent Jennifer Wall's daughter, Allison said, "It wasn't too hard." She played with her scooter this week.
Lancaster's daughter Sarah was busy with wiffle ball, Legos and, especially, dodge ball.
Not a child begged to go home to the TV and they instead chose community activities.
