"1863: Lincoln's Remarkable Year" A Dramatic One-Man Performance Presented by Howard Wright

Why did Lincoln’s views on slavery change once the Civil War began? Through the use of actual letters, speeches, and quotes by Abraham Lincoln, Howard Wright will give an insightful first-person portrayal of our 16th president.
This program will show how and why Lincoln moved from a “hands-off” position to ultimately setting in motion events that would bring about the end of slavery. The program will culminate with the delivery of the famous Gettysburg Address.

Part of the series “Avon to Appomattox: Lives and Legacies of the Civil War”, co-sponsored by the Avon Public Library, Avon Senior Center and Avon Historical Society. Generously funded by a grant from the Avon Education Foundation.
