Art Horn- Extreme Weather: Attack From The Sky!

Extreme Weather: Attack From The Sky!...We live on the most beautiful planet in the solar system. On this world we have a wide variety of weather and climate. Much of the surface of the earth has conditions that promote human prosperity with fertile soils and moderate, evenly distributed precipitation. With ample precipitation we grow food and enjoy the great outdoors when the sun shines. However there are times when Nature’s forces seem to conspire to work against us. These are the times when Extreme Weather Attacks! Over the last year we have seen a great deal of extreme weather. From stifling heat waves, deadly floods, terrible tornadoes~and massive hurricanes it has been a wild ride. The winter of 2010/11 brought record breaking cold and snow to the parts of Europe, the mountains of California and all the way to the east coast! Parts of southern New England were buried under 5 feet of snow in January, an all time record! What this has shown us is that at any time severe and extreme weather can strike. This program will highlight the amazing variety of weather we’ve seen around the world in the last year. We need storms to bring water and life, we just have to find a way to survive them when Extreme Weather Attacks! Please call the senior center at 860-675-4355 to sign up.
